If this is not a case of one clueless peace officer overstepping his boundaries than I don't know what is. You have got to be one dimwit idiot not to realize how much of a non issue this incident is. Honestly, what alternatives did the mom with a van full of kids have? She has a pack of kids driving to a Salvation Army post to donate their coins and an infant sleeping in the baby seat, all strapped in securely etc. It would really be a stretch to argue here that taking the infant out and attempting to cross a parking lot with the stroller and 3 or 4 kids in tow would be safer than just leaving the infant in place for a mere few minutes, just enough to be able to scoot over to the donation pot, deposit the change and head right back.

The local police department should really be embarrassed for the startling lack of professionalism among their ranks. Dragging this poor mom into court is just absurd. Don't courts have more urgent items to deal with??!?

I'll begin with nominating the Judge in this case for an award of meritorious service to his country and all that is just in this world. Despite of all the glamour surrounding the case, the Judge clearly didn't loose his head and did what every law respecting citizen know is just. Peris, despite of her Hilton tag, should take what she deserved. You don't just go muck with the law and expect to get away scotch free, regardless of your daddy's riches.

Get out of your golden cradle, leave all your toys aside, and for once in your life inhale the putrid smell of the real world. You have only yourself to blame for what has come your way. You think partying and going out driving drunk without a license is such a helluva joke!? I wish the Chungs family all the best in their legal fight to protect themselves against what must be one of the most absurd legal cases in recent history. If you followed this story closely, you'd have definitely come across some of the utterly bizarre statements made by Mr. Gonzales at the congressional hearing. He starts off by arguing he was not involved in the firings of the attorneys, that it was someone else actually doing his job. Under further preassure, he concedes that the meeting to discuss the firings showed up on his calendar but he has no recollection of attending or being there. After even more preassure, he admits that he might have attended the meeting and signed something but still has complete loss of all memory related to the event!!! How incredulous is that!??!

Gonzales, please fire your ass and spare Mr. Bush yet another reason to be laughed at. Would you please remember to do that? After all, Mr. Bush has already earned his entry into the world's guiness book for his creative use of English vernacular and other-worldly intellect. Trying to figure out an answer through online boards, blogs, and groups is virtually useless. On this one, it appears 99.99% of the folks are clueless, and only the remaining 0.01% have somewhat of a slightest idea how to fix the problem.. grr.

I think I nailed it by resorting to the good old brute force troubleshooting method akin to "binary search". I started off by toggling half of my firefox plugins off. The bug didn't go away. I toggled the remaining half off, and the bug simply vanished! I went back and put half of the initial second portion of my plugins back in and the problem resurfaced. I repeated this a couple times until I finally narrowed it to the single plugin: "Google quick calendar add" (whatever it's name).

Hence, the simple solution is to remove the "google calendar plugin"!!

Aside from heinous grammar pitfalls that would make any englishmen cringe, the answer to the question is painfully obvious: the germans, and the canadians, and the rest of the world is in Afghanistan to speed up the transfer of your rotten souls to your allah and the seven virgins. May you have a joyous sexapade in the deepest pits of hell!

Granted you played around with the Demo release with no apparent issues, this particular crash would definitely catch you off guard. First, if the game loads and you are able to play the initial sequences just fine, the crash would definitely have very little to do with your graphics system. It was so in my case and left me with only other semi-obvious alternative to check into. If it's not the graphics, it must be the OS. If crash takes place during load time, it must have to do with memory read/write functions. If it has to do with memory, the only obvious things to check is the amount of RAM you have and swap space to accomodate the excesses.

In my case, I had 2GB of ram.. but only 300MB of swap available on the HD my OS sits on. Now, the game's system requirements doc would tell you that it needs >6GB of had and >1GB of ram. Obviously, therein lay my problem. To try to fix it, I chose to increase the size of available swap space in System -> Advanced -> Performance -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory.

Once there, you may proceed in a number of ways depending on the number of physical/virtual harddrives you have. For the harddrive where your OS runs from, select the "System Managed" option. Now, you are in the wrong place if you have only one HD. If you find yourself stuck with a single harddrive, the only option you have is to start freeing up plenty of space to allow your system to operate with a bigger swap size. And never neglet to remove system's temporary files (use any cleaner software such as CCLeaner or what have you)!!

On the other hand, you are the lucky guy if you have more than one harddrive to play with. In such case, granted those harddrives have some space left on them, make sure you set aside at least a total of 3GB towards your paging file size. To do so, simply check the "Custom size" option and enter the appropriate "initial size" and "maximum size" values. Alternatively, you may choose to check off the "system managed size" option for the rest of your harddrives. Remember to hit the "Set" button every time you change a value. Once done, hit "OK" and reboot the system.

99% of the time, the trouble will just go away!!

searching Google wasn't of much use.. there were only a few newsgroup threads addressing a similar issue and even the ones I found didn't provide me with much of a solution. If you've ever been stuck with an equally dubious make/compile issue, you know how it feels when you are all alone with no one to ask for a resolution. And it feels even worse when you realize that the vast knowledge base of the Internet is of little use.

So, in case you are stuck with a similar problem, here's my resolution that worked for me.

The quick fix is to disable the NLS by passing the "--disable-nls" flag to the ./configure script. This will remove the internationalization support from your subversion build. Along with it, it will eliminate the compiler issue and allow you to build a working SVN client.

I arrived at the solution by examining svndiff.c at line 350:

From his personal profile at VampireFreaks.com, we learn that he's a hopeless hater of everything and anything but himself. Reading through some of his earlier blog posts, he was a bomb on a very short fuse waiting to explode any moment, unprovoked or otherwise. Not surprisingly, amongst his favourite pastimes was preoccupation with death and self pity. In my eyes, he's the sort of thing that has lost all grasp of reality, tucked somewhere deep in his own dark realm where the "self" is the only ultimate truth. This leaves all the rest of us on the wrong side of his "own self."

Could this massacre have been prevented? I very much doubt so. Short of earlier abortion by the parents of the "thing", I can think of very little that could have changed the course of events. Sure parents must take up a good share of the blame.. as the question of adequate parental involvement in the thing's life is begging to be asked. On the other end of the spectrum, the politicians may say what they wish, but no amount of gun control could have done any good either. I doubt the guns in question were aquired legally, and even if they were how can one control which way the barrel would point in the end anyway!?!

Now.. even if someone had spotted the thing's online profile laced with underlying threats of mass murder even before the thing could put it in practice, would it be of any use? Regrettably, in our overly liberalized canadian criminal system, reporting anyone to the police on mere suspicion is a waste of effort and time. The police wouldn't be the least interested until well after the actual crime has been committed.
